« if » by Rudyard Kipling

I am proud to show a little bit different project I made few months ago as director and cinematographer, mix between video art and dance video, created by my dear friend Allister Madin, daner at Opéra de Paris.

Here are his words to introduce de film:

« A year ago today, my grand mother Maria Luisa Modrego Velez passed away, and I found an old note book written by my deceased grandfather Miguel Carreira Villamil. He ended his book by copying Rudyard Kypling’s poem « if » as a farewell from him to me. The timing of this discovery stroke me months later as I realized that I was actually currently living and going through what the poem describes. This is why I felt the need of creating this project as an echo, a tribute to the guide my grandfather was and still is to me, helping me to become the Man I am. And last but not least, in one month I will be flying to the South Hemisphere to start my first season as a Principal Artist with the Royal New Zealand Ballet. »
